Day 15- Grand Canal Venice

After a quick playground stop on the way, today we took the Vaporetto boat the length of the Grand Canal, from the train/ bus station to the park at the end of the island.
Penny enjoyed smiling at and waving to strangers on the boat.
Our AirBnb had a Rick Steve's guide to Venice book with a tour based on the the public Vaporetto bus. It was good to have an explanation of the different buildings as we passed them.
We went past the main San Marco square, and instead ended the trip at a park and playground.
It was a great playground, with lots of different equipment and activities for different ages.
The highlight for Jasper was a turf soccer pitch, where they even played a match with some local kids playing there.
We had a picnic lunch in the park, and took turns going into the café for coffee and bathroom breaks.
After lunch, the little kids, parent and Grandad went home on the boat for naps at the apartment. Grandma, Grandpa, Grannie and the big kids walked home from the park.
I wasn't there for this part, but they walked along the lagoon, saw some interesting art,
 saw a Ferrari toy store,
ate some gelato,
and saw many of the sights of Venice on the way home.
Venice really is a unique place, and it is a bit overwhelming to take it all in. I'm glad that we have all week here to explore.
Back at the apartment, Oscar and Jasper are both getting pretty good at playing Go Fish. I think Penny cheats, though.
Even doing laundry can become a source of entertainment when things are different than they are at home.
