Day 18- Venice Scavenger Hunt

It is our last day in Venice, so we set out today on another scavenger hunt in Venice. This time we were in 3 teams: 1) Grannie, Grandad, Jasper 2) Ellis, Penny, Pat, Kristin 3) Grandma, Grandpa, Oscar. Some of the items on the hunt included, cross at least 10 bridges:

Go to a new park:
Try a cicchetti (or in Oscar's case, a cannoli):
Cross the grand canal on a bridge:
Find a garbage boat:
Find a plague doctor mask:
Ride a traghetto ferry:
Chase a pigeon:
Find an Italian flag:
Ride the Vaporetto:
Find a cart for carrying things around the city:
Go through an alley that is a tunnel:
Find a pink house:
Find a lion:
Visit the Frari Basilica:
Visit an art museum:
Find a clock tower:
This evening, several groups went out for a last chance at exploring Venice before we leave tomorrow.
Ellis, Penny and I went over to the Acqua Alta bookshop. An elderly Italian woman scolded me for not having the kids bundled up enough in the chilly weather (it was 13 C this afternoon). After I put Penny's touque on, she was satisfied, gave Penny a big kiss and fished a candy out of her purse for Ellis.

Pat and Jasper went to the perfume museum and then played soccer in the square with what seems like every other kid in this neighbourhood.
Pat and I went out for dinner tonight after the kids were in bed. Tomorrow, back to Rome.

  1. You certainly made the most of Venice. I love hearing about the scavenger hunts - it sounds like the kids are learning a lot on this trip.
