Day 52: Puerto de la Cruz

We had some really sad news last night, and Grandma crushed her finger in the driveway gate but somehow we still managed to have a good day today.
Jasper was back to his happy self,  and El Teide was out to bask in the sun this morning. Thanks to a recommendation from our host, Grandma got her hand fixed up at a clinic really quickly and with an English interpreter.
We went to the Playa Jardin black sand beach in Puerto de la Cruz. It was a perfect temperature, just warm enough that you wanted to go swimming, but not so hot that the sand burnt your feet.
The kids really enjoyed playing in the black sand and unfortunatly, Ellis also liked to eat it.
Ellis dumped sand on Jasper's face, and it was stuck there until bath time tonight. The black sand is very sticky, and I didn't want to get it into his eye by rubbing it off.
After the beach, we went to a nice vegetarian restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz and walked around town.
We found another great park for the kids in a plaza on the walk back. Ellis was right in there on the second story of the play structure with the big kids.
Jasper got to try out making giant bubbles with a busker in the square.
Ellis played so hard at the park that she got very dirty.
We did an outdoor bath as a first step to try to get some of the dirt off, and then another indoor bath to get the rest.
