Day 11: Sao Vicente

After the struggle yesterday afternoon, we decided to take it easy this morning.
I stayed with Ellis for her nap, Pat took Jasper to the park and the others went to see some nearby caves.
Our host really recommended a local restaurant with a 5 Euro lunch buffet, so we walked down there for lunch.
Jasper and Ellis both tried scabbardfish, an ugly looking eel fish that is only caught and eaten in Madeira. Ellis also found some corn on the cob to chow down on.
We took the scenic route home along the beach and up the river.
Mom read that the beach here is good for surfing, but the waves were definitely expert level today.
The trail we took meandered along a cliff, through a tunnel and back over a bridge.
It started to rain on the way home, and we spent the rest of the afternoon around the house. We chatted with Grandma and Grandpa in Kincardine on whatsapp and Ellis bumped her head a few times trying to stand on her own.
Jasper burned some energy by sprinting back and forth around the house.
He really wanted Great Grannie to do his evening exercises with him, and being a great Great Gran, she joined right in.
