Today we went on a road trip to the east coast of Madeira, which was only a 30 min drive each way since the island is pretty small.
In his element. |
First stop was the wicker factory. Madeira is famous for its wicker creations. Jasper's favourite part was the park in the square outside. He even met a new little Portuguese friend.
Checking out the wicker "zoo" |
There were some pretty impressive wicker sculptures, and we saw some men and women weaving the wicker. Not a job I would want to do.
Next, we drove to the end of the road on Vereda da Ponta de Sao Lourenco, then continued on the trail.
We didn't do the whole 8km hike, but we did enough to see some impressive scenery and get pretty sweaty.
Ellis slept the whole way and Jasper was happy to point out people and boats and rocks from his "motorbike" on Pat's back. Even teddy got a ride.
A 4 generation hike. |
