Day 8: Moving to Ponta do Pargo

Today we left Funchal and drove towards our new place in Ponta do Pargo in the west of Madeira. On the way, we tried again at the glass sidewalk on Cabo Girao.
The experience was much different when you can actually see the coast 580m below. There were also many many more tourists there today.
Next stop was the Madeira ethnographic museum that explained the history of daily life on the island. I was thankful for the English translation cards, and Pat was happy to watch all the fishing videos.
Jasper was surprisingly interested and attentive at the museum, especially since none of it was geared to kids. He liked the boats and the threshing equipment and pointing at every single thing to ask "What's that?"
On our way to mail postcards we came across a playground, so of course we had to stop for a play.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring our "new house" on a farm on a hilltop looking out over the cliffs at Ponta do Pargo. Grannie did a great job picking out this place!
There are goats, sheep, chickens, ducks and bunnies right in the yard. There is a big lawn for the kids to run around on and even a pool. We're told there's a great view but it was cloudy and foggy this afternoon.
One of the bunnies made a great escape from the cage and was eating the flowers in the garden.
The house we're staying in is an old stone building that has been turned into a guest house. The interior is very modern- everything is made of cement and glass. Cement steps are pretty dangerous for Ellis (but most things are these days).
Ever since we stayed in an AirBnb in San Antonio that was lived in by kids and was full of toys, every time we stay in a new place the first thing Jasper does is look for the toys. Luckily we were able to find some outdoor toys here for him to play with.
Ellis wanted to get in on the soccer game too, so she put on her shoes. She's not walking yet, but is getting pretty close.
