Today we took the ferry boat to Rota, a town on the other side of the Bahia Cadiz
Our morning had some added excitement when the arriving ferry boat crashed into the ferry terminal while we were waiting to board. It made a really loud crunch and shook the terminal. There was pretty significant damage to the boat, so our sailing was cancelled and we had to wait for the next one. Jasper was pretty worried about having to get on a broken boat, but when the next ferry arrived he thought that it was the same one that had already been fixed.
Once we got on the boat, the crossing was uneventful.
Upon arriving in Rota, we visited a small castle in the old town where Jasper enjoyed running around in the plaza.
We then went to the beach to play in the sand. It was another huge beautiful beach.
It was a bit too chilly to go in the water, but we built some sandcastles and Ellis snacked on some sand.
For lunch, we found Pat's favourite, Ceveceria 100 Montaditos- and Sunday is 1 Euro special day!
It actually worked out quite well, the restaurant was right on the beach and Jasper got to sample his own camarones (shrip) sandwich.
We all ate more than we should have, for about 13 Euros.
Back at the ferry dock, there was a sign that said the boats were cancelled and there would be a bus instead. When we asked why, the lady at the ticket booth said "there was a problem this morning, a very bad problem".
The bus took longer than the boat, but both kids slept the whole way back!
