Day 18- Seattle

Route: Seattle- Surrey, BC
Distance Driven: 220 km

We had a pancake breakfast at the campground and then drove to a park and ride to ride into Seattle to explore for the day. It was Jasper's first bus ride, and the bus driver was very kind to show us the proper way to strap the stroller down.

Our first stop was the Pike Place Market which was so busy it was really hard to get through with the stroller.  We headed down to the waterfront to walk along the docks, the breeze was nice and cool.

Walking along the Seattle waterfront.
We walked all the way over to a big park by the Space Needle, and found a giant splash pad with a sculpture spouting out water and blaring dance music.  Many kids were running around in their underpants having fun in the sun.
By the Space Needle.
We then hopped the monorail back to the bus station and took the bus back to our car.
I had picked out a campground north of Seattle to stay for the night, but when I keyed it into the GPS, I realized that it was only 30 min further to get to Aaryn and Stu's place outside Vancouver.  As much as we had been enjoying the relaxed firearms policy and abundance of fundamentalist conservative radio talk shows, we decided we had been stateside long enough, and bolted for the border.

Our hosts were at the Vancouver Canadians game, so we went to a neighborhood bar to kill time until they got home.  Jasper was denied entry (they didn't believe that he was 21) but they recommended a different bar that lets minors chill all night, so we went for a few pints, and eventually got to sleep at Aaryn and Stu's.
