Day 34- I'm on a boat

Route: Wrangell- Skagway, Alaska
Distance driven: 0 km
Distance sailed: 461 km

When we woke up, we'd traveled another few hundred kilometers and had arrived in Petersburg, nicknamed "Little Norway".
Sunrise in Petersburg, Alaska.
The weather was beautiful and clear, and the snow capped mountain scenery was becoming more spectacular as we continued north, but we still had 18 more hours on the boat, so we spent some time hanging out the the cabin, the cafeteria and watching movies about Alaksa. We even had showers, which were pretty impressive, considering it's a boat.
Jasper wanted top bunk.
All smiles after barfing on his clothes.
In the toddler play area, a little too small still.
Pat spotted a pod of Dall's porpoises and we saw some whale spouts from the cafeteria. We spent some time on the shady part of the sun deck looking for wildlife and watching the mountains go by. There were some pretty remote lighthouses we passed along the way.
A bit too windy for the kid.
Jasper was once again a hit with the older women on the boat, including a tour group of seniors from Mississippi with matching K-way jackets and many stories about their grandchildren back home.
Hanging out on the sun deck.
In Juneau, we had 2 hours on shore, but the ferry terminal was 14 miles from town, so we just wandered around a bit near the dock. We saw a harbour seal swimming in a nearby cove.
The M/V Manatuska in Juneau.
Once the sun set, we still had four hours until landing in Skagway, so we went back to the cabin for a nap. Jasper woke up when we put him into his carseat at midnight and thought it was morning time, but eventually we got to our hotel and he went back to sleep.
Pretty nice sunset.
