Distance driven: 108 km
There was still snow on the ground when we woke up this morning at the hostel. We took our time in getting ready and were the last ones to leave. Some people were leaving on bicycles, so we were glad to be in a car.
The weather was a lot better once we got down to Lake Louise. Pat and I both remembered hiking the Plain of Six Glaciers trail as kids, so we decide to give it a try. The path is very flat around the lake and then a steady uphill climb to a tea house.
We brought a picnic lunch, but went to the tea house for a drink to check it out.
Jasper has now had his diaper changed in some pretty scenic locations.
We'd read that this hike had a high effort to reward ratio, and it delivered with great mountain views and a view of Lake Louise from afar. The canoes on the lake looked like little water bugs.
On the way back, we took a longer route up to Mirror Lake. We saw lots of mountain goats in the alpine meadow.
We ran into snow again on the way back down, but luckily, it didn't really start snowing hard until we were back at the car. The total distance for the hike was nearly 13 km. Jasper was a champ, either sleeping or being calm and awake the whole trip. He got lots of smiles and waves from passing hikers.
We went into Banff for dinner at a vegetarian restaurant, and then to Canmore to stay at a hostel for the night.
