Day 46- Jasper in Jasper

Route: Hinton- Jasper
Distance driven: 150 km
Welcome to Jasper, Jasper!
Today we had a bit of a break in the rainy weather, enough the explore Jasper a bit. We started by walking around the town site, then trying to rent bikes and a trailer. Unfortunately, Jasper is too little to go in a bike trailer yet, so we decided to hike instead.

It's funny to be in a place with the same name as your baby. We sound pretty silly playing peek-a-boo saying, "where's Jasper?" over and over. Or, when trying to get him to look at the camera, we say "Jasper! Jasper! Jasper!". But, where else will you find Jasper's Jeweler and Jasper's Liquor Store?

After lunch, drove out to Maligne Canyon and took a short hike. The sun even peeked through the clouds while we hiked from bridge to bridge.

At Maligne Lake we weren't so lucky wit the weather. It rained and then started snowing, so we cut our hike short, and had coffees in the lodge instead. Jasper didn't seem too impressed with his first snowfall since he was 5 days old.
Stormy weather coming at Maligne Lake.
It's snowing!
I messed up our yurt reservation, so we had an unheated yurt, which was a bit chilly when the temperature went down to 3 degrees. Jasper was cozy in between us all bundled up. Probably no camping for us until we leave the mountains, since the forecast for Banff is -3!

Hanging with the elk in our campground.
